About Sue
I practised family medicine for 37 years, having achieved the degrees of MD in 1979, and MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology in 1982, at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario. I completed my training to become a family physician at Queen's and became certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 1981. I maintained my certification annually, and I received a Fellowship with the College of Family Physicians in 2004. I became a certified life coach through Coaches Training Institute in 2004, and completed their Co-Active Leadership program in 2009. In 2013, I received the Ontario College Graduate Certificate in the Expressive Arts. Combining the toolkits of family medicine and life coaching and the expressive arts, I have found great joy in accompanying others on their hero's journey towards self-discovery and healing.
I began a new adventure in April 2022- I spent a year training to become a Certified Sage-ing Leader for Sage-ing International (www.sage-ing.org) and Graduation day was March 26,2023! I am now able to facilitate, with confidence, workshops on such interesting topics as Life Review, Life Repair, Ethical Will writing, Internalized Ageism, Mentoring, and Preparing for Our Own Death. In spring of 2024, I became a mentor for the Certified Sage-ing Leader program of Sage-ing International. What a pleasure this has been, and very inspirational, as I get to know accomplished individuals hailing from many places of our fascinating world.
In summer 2022, I discovered the certified professional retirement coach program and I enrolled in it. It was a fascinating program which filled in the gaps of knowledge I had about how to help people make the transition from their first career into the next part of their life. I now have another toolkit filled with useful and effective exercises to help with this transition and I have enjoyed doing just that since October 1,2022!
